A message from
the Chairman
Dear Colleagues,
The
International Association of Airline Internal Auditors
(IAAIA), the only voluntary, not-for-profit
organization serving the community of airline internal
auditors, will be holding its 14th Annual Conference at
the JW Marriott Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, between 25 and 28
September 2005. The annual IAAIA conference is now the
recognized forum for aviation audit professionals worldwide.
This year’s conference theme – Take off to
greater heights – the sky is NOT the limit! – is
a conscious attempt to provide a positive, creative focus
to our deliberations.
The
Conference programme has been carefully crafted by the
Executive Committee to share insight, stimulate
thought and inspire action in the dominant areas of concern:
cost pressures from rising fuel prices and GDS costs; risks
emerging from recent structural changes such as e-ticketing;
paring down exposures in capital projects; and finding
finance to cope with growth. The programme recognizes that
in the face of these challenges, the response of airline
internal auditors should be imaginative and courageous,
willing ourselves into hitherto unexplored territories.
To this end, we have included sessions focusing on continuous
monitoring, audit automation and control self-assessment.
A special emphasis is being placed on IATA’s initiative
to “simplify the business” as a means of reducing
costs. Kuala Lumpur 2005 will equip you with the tools
to derive immediate and tangible benefits and will perhaps
set the agenda for airline internal auditing for the years
to come.
The 14th Annual IAAIA Conference provides
exceptional value in terms of continuing professional education.
Multi-cultural Malaysia, with its rich diversity and heritage,
will provide the ideal setting for business and leisure.
Kuala Lumpur offers the right combination of scenic beauty
and exciting excursions. Our gracious host, Malaysia Airlines,
has negotiated an attractive rate for spouses and companions.
Please visit our website, www.iaaia.com, and sign up now
for the conference. If you are not already a member of
IAAIA, join now!
I look forward to seeing you in Kuala Lumpur
soon.
